It Helps To Talk

The goal of this TV spot was to encourage individuals affected by childhood sexual abuse to take advantage of a telephone hotline specially set up for the purpose of receiving their calls and encouraging them to talk about their experiences. The spot was also designed to raise awareness of the subject among the general public.

The claim “If you break the silence, you break the power of the offender” called on victims to speak about their experiences and thus to free themselves from a seemingly all-powerful hand. The spot was made in two variations: one with a female actor and one with a male actor.

Directed by Wim Wenders, the spots received tremendous response in the press and all relevant media (TV, print, online), including, for example, coverage on Germany’s nightly news, in Süddeutsche Zeitung and also in Bildzeitung.
